From Catering to an International Event

Austeja Simaityte

It all started with a simple Facebook post that was a call for volunteers who wanted to volunteer at a marketing and business conference called LiMA DAY. When I saw this opportunity I just straight at it...

It all happened in August and by the end of September I had already lost all hope, that I would be able to participate in it...little did I know I was to receive an email that would light up my whole month.

As the day of the conference approached I was sent an email informing me that I was invited to participate in the LiMA DAY as a volunteer.

The whole process of meetings and training was as easy, as just 1 online and 1 in person meeting. Now I was ready to do the job I needed to do!

As I arrived at the Litexpo Exhibition and Congress Center, I was greeted with a warm smell of cookies and coffee, which already gave me a hint of what I was going to be doing...catering. This was one of my main jobs for this whole event, even if I really didn't have any experience in it, but as the timed past I became more and more confident in what I was doing.

Although, after some time it wore me out, therefore, I moved on to a few less physically demanding jobs, such as packing gifts, or seeing people out.

As all of these jobs were approaching a finish I was allowed to go and explore the conference as a simple visitor and that allowed me to see the whole event from a whole another different perspective.

This event allowed me to meet a lot of new people and will be one of the highlights of my volunteering career...at least for now.
