A little Step Goes A Long Way
This week, I had the chance to do something a little different with my volunteer work at the shelter: I took a new dog named Laja for a long walk around the city. It was a special experience, as I got to spend some one-on-one time with her and give her a chance to explore the world outside the shelter.
Laja is still getting used to her new surroundings, so I wanted to make her walk a relaxing and enjoyable experience. We strolled through the streets, past parks, and along tree-lined avenues. Laja seemed to love the fresh air and the opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of the city. She was curious and energetic, but also surprisingly calm as we walked at a gentle pace.

It was incredible to see how much a simple walk could mean to a dog who hasn’t had much time outside the shelter. As we explored, I could see her confidence growing with every step, which made the experience even more rewarding.
Taking Laja out for a walk was a small gesture, but it felt like it made a big difference for her. It’s moments like these that remind me how important it is to give these dogs the time and attention they deserve, and I’m glad I had the chance to offer her a little bit of freedom and joy.
